Abell Pest Control was founded in 1924 by Earl F. Abell. In the beginning, our company was primarily a manufacturer of pesticides, distributing our products in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It did not take long, however, for us to evolve into a service company. We were among the first organizations to recognize the application of pesticides as a valuable public service: the industry of pest management was born. It was during the depression years of the 1930's that the company also recognized the importance of effective and affordable pest management as an instrument of food protection and public health safety.
Earl's son, Ralph E. Abell, joined the firm in 1952. During his tenure, the company began a long period of expansion. The 1960's and 1970's saw the company make significant growth gains and expansion into several other cities within Canada. We were becoming a strong force in the Canadian pest management industry.
The third generation began to have impact in 1976 when John R. Abell, the current President, joined the firm. This started the years of diversification and international expansion. During the 1970's and 1980's, we established ourselves as the largest Canadian-owned pest management company.
Our plan for the new Millennium is to continue building on our foundation of introducing innovative products and services and providing top quality technical skill and knowledge. Much of our company's success has been attributed to the attention we give to the specific needs of our customers in conjunction with our position of being a leader in our industry.
